Israel Tel Aviv-Ben Gurion Ramp Tour 6 May 2019
by JLT EGCC74
Today was going to be very busy, with two highlights of the trip being visited.
Before we even left the hotel, a few aircraft were noted inbound as well as outbound from Ben Gurion, plus a few helicopters working along the coast and past the hotel.
This morning was set aside for the airport ramp tour at Ben Gurion airport, so it was time to leave and negotiate the busy Tel Aviv morning rush hour and get the van’s parked near the meeting point. Not only would we get close to the commercial aircraft on the ramp, we would also drive along the business jet ramp and see what was outside the Israeli Aircraft Industries area. In addition, we would visit a ramp area dedicated to stored military fighters, some which were Israeli, others were from other countries. All very interesting. The excellent finale was enjoying the views from the lofty heights of the ATC Tower for around 50 minutes.
So we met our Israeli guide in the terminal car park on time and then went to the security gate, where the coach and airport guide would meet us. It was not a tour solely for our group, other members of the public and local photographers would also join us. Start time was 0900hrs, so on time we went through security on were on our way.
