Unlike their primate counterpart the Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta), which can be aggressive at times, the Hanuman or Common Langur (Semnopithecus entellus) is pretty mellow. The langur appears in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short story, The Adventure of the Creeping Man and langurs are called the "Bandar-Log" in Rudyard Kipling's novel The Jungle Book.
