I've found this advertisment here, with the following text:
The mechanical calculator shown here compared to the Toshiba BC-1412 is a Friden Model ST-10, which was produced between 1940 and 1950 – a calculator that had been in existence up to 29 years at the time the ad was placed. Hardly a fair comparison in the fast-moving world of technology.
In mid-1969, Friden had a full line of electronic calculators that could compete nicely with Toshiba's early electronic machines, as well as vastly improved mechanical machines that were faster, more capable, and quieter than the mechanical Friden shown in this comparison.
