DSCN2179 Alzheimer’s

Hericium Coralloides, the Edible and Medicinal Coral Tooth Mushrooms (Polish names: soplowka bukowa, soplowka galezista, soplowka koralowa, barania glowa, grzywa bialego lwa, kolczak koralowy, malpi pompon). The rare fungi are under strict species protection in Poland, on the 2004 Minister Red List with the ‘liable to extinction’ legal status (‘czerwona lista roslin i grzybow, status V’). This post presents a new locality of the protected fungus Hericium coralloides located in a manor park in Chalin by the lakeside. The basiodiocarp (fruiting body) grows on a fragment of fallen trunk on Lake Sremskie. In China, it is highly valued for its medicinal properties and is widely consumed.
