The "Flying" Lord

From a West Devon Village to an Air Chief Marshall, 34046 "Braunton" has been renumbered and named to 34052 "Lord Dowding" to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

I popped over to Grimpo, between Gobowen and Shrewsbury to capture this, and she looked spectacular making easy progress up the steep gradient. The last time I photographed this loco was in Woodham's scrapyard, Barry, in slightly less favourable condition:

The working was 1Z31, the 10.50 Crewe to Telford Central rail tour, "The Welsh Borders Explorer" Sunday 29.4.18.
