Although I do not consider myself any kind of authority on cemeteries or gravestones/headstones and the traditions incorporated into their design, I have noticed that in the region surrounding Montrose, Colorado it is somewhat customary to record an abbreviated version of the deceased's biography on the stone itself.
With a view out over Montrose, Colorado and the Uncompahgre Valley, these memorials share much in common. The theme of each is more general than most gravestones designed to commemorate the life and spirit of the persons inturned at their placement.
