Sometimes the show is in the east

When the sun sinks below the 11,000 Uncompahgre Plateau, the Uncompqahgre Valley to the east commonly experiences the alpenglow effect (see link). The eventual "actual" sunset brings a pinkish glow to the hills and mountsains on the east and southeast sides of the valley. A colorful sunset adds to this experience. This photo was taken from a location in eastern Montrose, Colorado looking to the southeast.
