Although I do not consider myself any kind of authority on cemeteries or gravestones/headstones and the traditions incorporated into their design, I have noticed that in the region surrounding Montrose, Colorado it is somewhat customary to record an abbreviated version of the deceased's biography on the stone itself.
The reverse side of the stone is shown here as the information of interest appeared on that side. A motorboat powers past what appears to be a vacation home, possibly a mobile home, indicating the good times enjoyed by this family. An eagle flies overhead. The stone focuses on the deceased husband and seven children.
