Storytelling gravestones #2
Grandview Cemetery, Montrose CO.
Although I do not consider myself any kind of authority on cemeteries or gravestones/headstones and the traditions incorporated into their design, I have noticed that in the region surrounding Montrose, Colorado it is somewhat customary to record an abbreviated version of the deceased's biography on the stone itself.
This gravestone is a shared family-type. Either the father nor mother is deceased but it appears a daughter is. She occupies a position between the parents, so I assume she was unmarried at time of death and possibly lived at home. The storytelling nature of this marker shows mountains, sheep ranching, and a beloved dog, a relatively simple story as these markers go.
