Burning the irrigation ditches

As Spring approaches in the Uncompahgre Valley of Colorado it is customary to clear the irrigation ditches by burning out the leaves, weeds or whatever might impeed water flow. At times the smoke can be quite thick and visible from a distance. This view is from eastern Montrose and the smoke is partially obscurring the view of the San Juans to the south.
