Swissssssh [2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge (7 of 7)]
A Tour de France style cycling race through the mountains of Colorado, this strenuous 7 day race attracts the best cyclists in the world, including Cadel Evans of Austrailia, the winner of the 2011 Tour de France, last year's winner Levi Leipheimer and more. These photos are from stage two, a "shorter" 99.2 mile segment from Montrose to Mount Crested Butte with an altitude gain of 8,049 feet. Rather than jion the crowds in town I decided to watch from near my house east of town.
Headed for Gunnison and two mountain passes before turning north of Mount Crested Butte and an uphill finish, these riders wll have an easier go than tomorrow when the distance is greater, the elevations gained are higher and a segment is over unpaved road.....and the forecast is rain.
