The Adobes at dusk
The Adobes is the local name for a series of significantly large clay hills on the east flank of the Uncompahgre Valley on Colorado's western slope. Essentially devoid of vegetation, these hills run from south of Montrose to near Grand Junction. The area is attractive for four-wheeling and other off-road sports. The mountains in the background hide from view the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
