Colorful confluence

The silt-laden waters of the Cimarron River flow into the green and relatively clean flow of the Gunnison River. The confluence occurs less than a half mile below Morrow Point Dam in Curecanti National Recreation Area east of Montrose, Colorado. The clearer water in the Gunnison results in part from the silt having settled out in either The reservoir dammed at Morrow Point or upstream into Blue Mesa Lake.
