Blanketed valley
Yesterday and much of today a temperature inversion cast a blanket of clouds over the valleys of much of western Colorado. Returning to Montrose from our Kansas City home I passed over Cerro Summit on US 50 to sea a sea of clouds covering the Uncompahgre Valley. The first thought I had was that it looked like a massive lake. At about 7000 feet elevation I descended into the thickest fog I have experienced. I exited about 1000 feet lower making the ceiling over Montrose just a few hundred feet.
