Connie and Shaba at the Reid Park Zoo

Reid Park Zoo, Tucson, AZ Jul 6, 2007 — Connie and Shaba in this photo are enjoying a cool treat on a hot day. These two elephant have enjoyed a long and different relationship. They are a mixed couple. Connie, on the left is an asian elephant. Shaba, on the right is an african elephant. Tucson was very fortunate in having both types to see.

New Elephants Have Arrived!

Connie and Shaba have left for San Diego, and two new elephants have arrived! A large male named Mabu and a female named Lungile have arrived. The new elephant exhibit is slated to open soon with a total of five african elephants.

Having elephants of the same species aids to conservation of the species and also aids the viability of the zoo. Well done Reid Park Zoo!
