Why, AZ

I love the name of this town, I love this sign. I guess "why" has been a favorite word of mine since I was two years old.

Why, Arizona is near the Mexican border and lies at the Western border of the Tohono O'Odham Indian Reservation. The town sits right next to the intersection of Arizona State Routes 85 and 86. This intersection used to be a "y" intersection. And so the town became know as "Y." But in Arizona a town name needs three letters, thus "Why" Arizona was created.

According to the 2000 census population was 113.

The photo was taken in March of 2006 with a Pentax *ist DL and the kit 18-55mm lens. The exposure: 16ƒ, 1/250, 200 ISO.
