Duality
This morning, I got up at 3am, drove to San Francisco, inspired by Steve Landeros' recent shots of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The conditions, unfortunately, had deteriorated into nothing but gray fog blanketing the entire bridge. I wanted to pull the camera out, at least for a few shots, so I headed over to the oft photographed pilings in Sausalito.
The image conveys a strong sense of what is going on through my mind right now. Mostly, I've been thinking about how to develop a consistent photographic style, and hopefully a unique one. This certainly seems a difficult task in today's day and age when digital photography has seemingly drawn in more and more people.
I enjoy so many types and styles of photography, I sometimes wonder if that gets in the way of a defining style. I also realize that it's OK to be inspired by other photographers' work and use that inspiration to try new things. I just hope I am doing that without it being a blatant rip-off.
Sorry for the ramble, but my caffeine levels are dropping and it's been a long day.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend with some quality camera time. I know us California folk are anticipating what this next week's storms will bring.
