El Capitan Glow - Horsetail Falls, Yosemite National Park, California

Portfolio & Services

My first day in Yosemite started with sunrise at Valley View. It was fairly uneventful, but I made it interesting my testing out my new felt soled hip waders. They rocked!

I waded over half way across the Merced River with camera on top of tripod and camera bag on my back. Not a single slip and I got about mid thigh high, pushing the envelope. Maybe not the best idea with the first session of photography after getting my camera back from water damage servicing.

I almost didn't make sunrise. I set my alarm clock for 4:15am, but failed to turn the alarm on. Luckily, I had some rednecks in the room next to me at the hotel and they decided it would be a good idea to have loud conversation at 4am. Nice!

At first I was pissed, then realized my alarm would not have gone off and I most likely would have slept too late. Thanks rednecks!

Anyway, this is a shot from the first night shooting Horsetail Falls. It is more of the "big picture" shot of Horsetail Falls including El Capitan and the trees between along the north side of the Merced River.

I think this may be my first ever Waterfall Wednesday shot!
