Soberanes Cove Sunset - Big Sur, California
Last night's sunset near Soberanes Point in Garrapata State Park was a blast of color. It was a photographer's sunset as well, the color kept going and going and going. Kind of like the Energizer Bunny!
After a two and a half month absence from diving, I finally got in the water. The dives were pleasant, but the images weren't too fantastic. Sometimes it just doesn't happen. Time is limited based on air consumption, and being out of "dive" shape meant I was huffing like a Hover vacuum cleaner.
Garrapata State Park, the entry to Big Sur, is only a few miles south of the dive site, one of the perks of the best diving being in Carmel. I figured since I was already in the area, I'd scout about and end up there for sunset.
The coast here is filled with possibilities, it is simply overwhelming. I went down a steep trail, explored, and determined that my foot wear was not appropriate to do the climb back up in the dark, so I ditched that idea and headed up while there was still light.
So, I settled in on a cove I know well. Soberanes Cove is one of the easier spots to get down to the water's edge. I met another photographer who came down later and who lives in the area. Tom, if you read this, it was a pleasure to meet you!
