Pigeon Point Lighthouse Anniversary Lighting - San Mateo, California
My first time going to the annual Pigeon Point Lighthouse was definitely a learning experience. All the studying, planning, and forethought certainly helped, but with most likely less than five minutes total time to "nail" the shot, in the end, I only got 2.5 shots off. The first was grossly underexposed, the second, was this one, and halfway through the third, they started rotating the lamp. I had to bump the D-lighting up in Nikon's Capture NX and I adjusted the exposure a tad as well as the levels, brightness and contrast. I ran Noise Ninja to reduce some noise that resulted from the 90 second exposure. I should have gone for a solid two minutes, but I got greedy and wanted to take that third shot. Oh well, there's always next year...
...EXCEPT, they mentioned this may be the last year they do the lighting due to funding. We shall see. Donations can be made to the lighthouse through the San Mateo Natural History Association.
Nikon D300
Nikkor 12-24mm @ 19mm
96sec @ f8, ISO 125 (still underexposed)
