Boyles Brothers BBU-1 Underground Diamond Drill, Toburn Gold Mine Interpretive Park, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada

Boyles Brothers BBU-1 Underground Diamond Drill, Toburn Gold Mine Interpretive Park, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. Similar to the one I was helper on underground at Pickle Crow Gold Mines for 3 1/2 months in the summer when I was 19 years old . Just old enough legally to work under ground . My pay dropped to $1.35/hr from the previous summer and I never worked so hard phyiscally in my life. We drilled 1000 ft holes with 10 ft pulls . Each rod weighed 60lbs 10 feet long . I also drilled back fill 3 " holes between the levels where the 10 ft rods weighed 120lbs each and the core barrel when full weighed 300 lbs. I worked mostly on the 2950 ft level in shaft One.But I spent about a month in Shaft 2 an underground shaft that went down another 1000 feet on the 3750 ft level . I also went down to the bottom level at 3950 Ft level for a day to take the rods out of a 700 ft hole that hit Methane Gas and was still blowing and had closed down the bottom 2 levels that had filled with the explosive gas. Good thing at 19 yrs old all the blood flow goes to the Groin Area and nothing to the Brain . LOL
