" Puna" leaving Richardson's Elevator Current River through the North Gap in the Break Wall . That;s Mount Mckay and the Norwester Mountains in the background .
If you look close or enlarge you can see 3 of the 4 gaps in the Breakwall in Thunder Bay Harbour. The closest is the North Gap with the "Puna " leaving Richardson's CR to sail through it . From this angle it doesn't look like she'll fit . The next is the Main Gap with the Light House and it doesn't look like she would fit through there at all. The Main Gap is not used any longer by the Commercial Trafffic ever since Sask Pool 6 was decommissioned. The furthest one is the South Gap which is used a lot to access the intercity Elevators and Keefer Terminal. There is another Gap the Kam Gap just to the left not visable in the photo. It is used to access Thunder Bay Terminals and the Kam River. Since the Island Bridge was built which limits traffic to the smaller Tugs and pleasure craft. And to the left out of the photo is the Mission River Basin which has its own short Breakwall and gives access to 2 Elevators, MobilEx Terminal (forer Valley Camp Coal) , Suncor Tank Farm (former PetroCan Tank Farm) and up to the Turn basin at Avnor Paper Mill.
