20198144 (3)-SharpenAI-Focus The Tugs of Thunder Bay Harbour

Teclutsa

The local tugs managed through the heavy Ice to assist the Freighters into the Elevators. Using the passages cut by the Ice Breakers.

This large tug was built in 1973 by Marinette Marine of Marinette, WI as the USS Pawhuska [YTB-822] for the U.S. Navy. Coos Bay Towboat Co. of Coos Bay, OR purchased the tug in 2005 and renamed her Teclutsa. In 2016, the tug was acquired by Lakehead Tugboats Inc. of Thunder Bay, ON, and returned to the Great Lakes for the first time since her construction.
