Lanterman's Mill
I made the 2 hour drive over to Youngstown, Ohio a few weeks ago to see Lanterman's Mill and falls before the autumn foliage blew off the trees. This shot was taken just before sunset, as I had to wait out the sun which was giving me some really brutal conditions before it dropped below the hill behind me. The mill is part of the Mill Creek Metroparks and is one of Mahoning County's most historic landmarks. Built in 1845-46 by German Lanterman and Samuel Kimberly, it was restored in 1982-85 and represents one of the many pioneer industries developed along Mill Creek. It operates today as it did in the 1800s, grinding corn, wheat, and buckwheat. If you follow me on Flickr and do the Facebook thing, then check out my Facebook photography page and give it a "Like".
