CBGBs Walls

Yesterday I was invited to shoot the original walls from the Legendary Punk Rock Club CBGB OMGFUG, which was located at 315 Bowery.

I spent (misspent?) MANY nights there in the past getting juiced to the gills and listening to killer bands so I was very curious to see what the state of CBs was today.

The guy who owns the name CBGBs and all of the items that were taken from the space is Tim Hayes and he, along with former 20 year CBGBs General Manager, Louise Parnassa Staley are now behind CBs.

I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect but they are two of the nicest, most down to earth people and they truly have the legacy of Hilly Kristal (CBs founder/creator) in mind and are carefully guarding the legacy of this seminal punk rock institution.

As part of this stewardship, Tim, Louise and their cohorts are putting on a huge NYC-based music festival next week featuring bands, movies and lectures/panels. OG Punk/Metal Musician Duff McKagan, from Guns 'n' Roses / Velvet Revolver / Loaded, is the Keynote Speaker.

Even though things change and the past is the past, I feel like this is one legacy that is in very good hands.
