Here are some facts about 5 Pointz:

1. The name 5 Pointz represents the 5 Boroughs of NYC

2. Located in Long Island City, Queens NYC

3. The owners of the building, Jerry Wolkoff and his son David, actually like street art (aerosol art as they call it) and encourage it on this building

4. The 200,000 sq. ft. building is not abandoned as many believe it to be. It houses a garment manufacturing business as well as over 90 artist studios

5. The graffiti artworks were begun in 1996 by Pat DeLillo, who called it the Phun Phactory

6. The current curator of the building is "MERES" aka Jonathan Cohen an aerosol artist himself and the gatekeeper of the pieces

7. Artists are only allowed to paint on the weekends and must clear their concept with MERES first

8. Pieces last from one day to several years

9. All of the art is on a volunteer/non-commercial basis

10. There is a current gallery show "THEDEADLY4MULA" featuring 5 Pointz Graf/Street/Aerosol Artists in the Bronx at Haven Arts Gallery (www.havenarts.org), 50 Bruckner Blvd, Building A from Dec. 22nd through January 30th.
