Courageous George

Bronze statue of the little dog George, a nine year old Jack Russell Terrier who lost his life protecting a group of children from a savage attack by two rogue Pitbulls.

In 2009 George was posthumously awarded a PDSA Gold Medal (animal equivalent of the George Cross) presented by Governor General Anand Satyanand.

After hearing of the story an American Vietnam War veteran Jerrell Hudman mailed to George's owner Allen Gay, one of three Purple Heart Medals he was awarded during his service to honour George's memory.
