Vintage Telephone Insulators 8446 A (Explored)

Vintage telephone insulator caps along a ranch house wall on the edge of The Badlands of South Dakota. Similar glass insulators were used on telegram poles since the 1840s and telephone poles until the 1950s. These insulators had manufacturing date stamps from the early 20th century.

I have fond boyhood memories of collecting glass insulator caps while dove hunting along railroad tracks and dirt roads with my Dad in eastern South Dakota in the early 1970s.
