Teddy Bear Fence 7424 A
Teddy bear fence near Dupuyer, Montana, population 80, in Pondera County.
Google Maps shows this as a children’s memorial, which is how I shot it, however, when I got home and Googled a bit, I discovered it may not be a memorial and instead may be a protest regarding this wildlife fence and the adjacent wildlife underpass, which was built to control (perhaps ineffectively) wildlife, including the numerous grizzly bears that traverse between here and the Rocky Mountains, which are about 30 miles to the West.
Dupuyer has an annual ‘Grizzly Days’ celebration and the area has occasional violent encounters between people and grizzlies. Recently, a nearby school even built a fence to keep them out.
