Hat Rock 3868 A
Hat Rock at Hat Rock State Park on the Columbia River near the town of Hermiston in Umatilla County, Oregon.
The 70 foot basalt column was exposed during the Missoula Floods, about 15,000 years ago. Lewis and Clark noted the landmark during their expedition and traded with Native Americans drying fish here.
Development is rapidly encroaching on the area and when I was there last summer, it took a long time to find an angle not full of distractions.
