Feed Store Dock 2914 A
Feed store dock in the semi-ghost town of Buffalo Gap, South Dakota in Custer County.
Buffalo Gap, population 131, on the edge of the Black Hills to the west and ten miles from Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to the east, is one of the oldest towns in South Dakota. It started as a stage coach stop in the 1870s during the Black Hills gold rush and its long history of rowdiness and mix of prospector, cowboy and Lakota cultures is easy to imagine. The town is full of great scenes of small town decay and disintegrating historical buildings.
Only got a couple of shots, since it just started pouring rain shortly after I got there. Waited about an hour for the weather to break, but it never did. I’ll definitely be back soon to shoot some more.
