Cave Hills Church 0651 E (Explored)

Cave Hills Lutheran Church in Harding County, South Dakota, built in 1928 by Finnish settlers, sits next to rocky Juhala Hill. About 10 minutes after taking this photo, a windy afternoon thunderstorm blew through the area.

While researching my seven state South Dakota road trip, I had decided to make a short side trip to see this picturesque church and was not disappointed, as it's one of the most beautiful churches I’ve seen in the last few years.

This scene is located in the least populated, most remote part of South Dakota. Though I grew-up in South Dakota, I had never been to the Cave Hills area. Hope to spend a day or two sometime shooting in this stunningly beautiful part of the state.
