Vasquez Rocks 8534 A
Vasquez Rocks, located 45 minutes north of Los Angeles, was named after a famous bandit who used the area as a hideout in the 19th century.
The area has been a popular film and TV location since the 1930s.
Referred to informally as ‘Kirk’s Rock’, several Star Trek episodes were shot here, including the episode "Arena", where Kirk battles the lizard Gorn.
I just stumbled upon this park while driving to Ridgecrest. I wish I would have known about it beforehand so I could have rewatched that Star Trek episode! Supposedly you can still see the large rocks Kirk and the Gorn threw at each other during their fight.
