Stranger #5

This is Riccardo who agreed to be part of my 100 strangers project.

As I have kind of focused on street styles for my previous images it made sense to stick with the theme (although that is not the intention for all 100).

Beards or what we in Ol' Blighty call 'The Hipster' look seems to be gaining momentum so when I spotted Riccardo in a shop sporting a fine beard, I walked in and told him about the project.

The conversation was very short. Again my model was at work and could only spare a couple of minutes.

I asked him to stand in the doorway (there was not really enough space in the shop to use the fixed 85mm lens I had with me). With his hands in his pockets he leaned against the door frame, looked right into the lens and I knew that was the shot. Three quick pictures taken to make sure I didn't catch him blinking and I was done.

What would I change? I wish I had taken just a few seconds longer to think about the composition or looked at the back of camera screen a little harder when reviewing the image. I think it could be improved with either one or two steps forwards or backwards to produce a slightly tighter crop or have his hands/pockets in the frame.

Thank you Riccardo for helping me learn a little more about portraiture by making portraits.
