Armchair Traveling - A Peacock Tries to Impress a Peahen, Otavalo, Ecuador
Today's edition of Armchair Traveling takes me back to our first night in Ecuador, 8 years ago today. We spent the night in the Otavalo district, in a charming hotel, which was formerly a hacienda, "Hacienda Pinsaqui". There were numerous animals on the grounds, one of which was this magnificent peacock who was trying his best to woo a mate. He shook, he shimmied, he strutted, he waved, he stalked; and she just coolly walked on by, impervious to his fervent display of supposed sexual prowess. A short while later, he "folded his tent" and decided to conserve his energies for another day....
