RMM012 Peckett OX4 at Steamport - 1978

The Peckett & Sons OX4 loco was built in 1954 for Birchenwood Gas and Coke Works at Kidsgrove where it operate until 1973.

 

It is seen here making a spirited start during a steam day at the former Steamport Museum at Southport where brake van rides were being offered. October 07, 1978.

 

The Steamport Museum in Southport was located in the former LMS Motive Power Depot sited next to the former Southport Central Station. The Museum closed at the end of the 1990s and relocated to the Ribble Steam Railway and Museum in Preston Docks. The site redeveloped into a shopping centre in the early naughties.
