Misty Lake Durga Shagor

Durga shagor is in Barisal, its famous cause of the winter birds coming from cyberia every year. There is an island in the middle, lake itself is quite huge. Legend says then King's wife Durga had a wish from her husband and she wanted a DIGHI(lake). She was told to carry a KOLSHI(Bangladeshi water bucket) and keep walking. Lake will be as long as the queen carries the KOLSHI. Devi durga started to walk, but she wasnt stopping, King got worried to see the distance she covered, so he tricked and dropped his hankerchief infront of the Queen assuming she would pick it up. As he assumed, Queen picked it up for the King leaving the KOLSHI on the ground and everyone marked that spot for the length of the lake.

However, this lake wasnt built according to the original length, because it was still too long, King kept the budge low.

Since the birth of the lake, its known as Durga Shagor. Durga is the Queen's name and cause of the size its called sagor(sea). Now every year, hindu people arrange puja, mela and remember Devi Durga.
