I think this plover was as surprised as I was at the tenacity of this worm as it pulled it from the sand by the water's edge. At first I assumed it was just an average sand worm that was getting stretched out, but once the plover got it fully unearthed it was apparent that it was something else, something really long - about twice the body length of the plover... Yech!!
