Morning flight

This is a landscape typical of the West fjord area of Iceland. More specifically this is taken close to the Rauðsdal farm on Barðarströnd.

I woke early at around five that morning at the farm guesthouse and noticed that the previous nights grey clouds were gone and replaced by partly cloudy calm conditions and a rising sun behing the mountains.

Despite a desperate need for a few hours more sleep I grabbed my camera and went exploring the beaches and rocks along the sea. I would not regret it, this is only one of many "keepers" from that morning.

The reason for the title may not be obvious on a small version of ths image, but if you look closely on the larger size image you will see a flock of ravens in the sky. They came flying from behind me and I noticed them so late that I just managed to set down my tripod and snap a few shots before they were gone in the distance.

Also notice the sheep resting among the rocks on the beach.

The totally clam weather conditions in this photo is not very typical of the west fjords, usually it is much rougher weather.
