Stars Over Star Dust
A bristlecone pine, the oldest single living organism known on earth, grows under the stars, the source of many of the elements essential to life.
In 1964 the oldest known living tree was cut down to count its rings: "...4,844 rings were counted on a cross-section of the tree, making "Prometheus" at least 4,844 years old, the oldest known non-clonal living thing."
(Source: Wikipedia)
Given the estimated age of the tree nicknamed "Methuselah", it should also be 4844 years old today, now tied at that age and still alive. Happy birthday Methuselah!
