LOVEwork Open House Sculpture

Names of Jefferson Lab employees who worked on the LOVEwork sculpture are etched into the letter “V” outside of the TEDF Building at Jefferson Lab Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Va., on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The LOVEwork sculpture was designed and built by various Jefferson Lab staff members. (Aileen Devlin | Jefferson Lab)

The Jefferson Lab LOVEwork sculpture is made from Advanced Photon Source (APS) light source vacuum chambers. The “girders” were shipped from Argonne National Lab to JLab, so the magnets and other components could be repurposed for use on the new Electron Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The LOVEwork sculpture was created for the 2024 JLab Open House and coincides with Virginia Tourism Cooperation’s iconic Virginia is for Lovers slogan and the other 300+ LOVEworks signs located around the state.
