Consoling

Black-tailed prairie dogs, Cynomys ludovicianus, console one another for their plight. They live in a moderate-sized colony in an area that was once a meadow. They ate all the good plants, and those that remain are highly defended by chemical defenses. At the edge of the colony is a large cottonwood with a bald eagle's nest, occupied by two adults and their very big chick. The eagles consider this densely occupied weed field to be their personal banquet table. As if poisoned food and looming predators were not enough, a badger trundled through the colony the previous day, sniffing burrows and making plans.

Life drags on, and then you die. Hug a friend and console them.
