Upper Calf Creek Alcove and Pool

Calf Creek is a popular hiking area in the Grand Staircase of the Escalante National Monument. I took the hike to Upper Calf Creek Falls, but became more enamored with the adjacent alcove and pool. I imagine that thunderstorms could drench the large expanse of sandstone above, sending a torrent through the narrow canyon to spill into the splash pool below the alcove.
