Northern Pacific Railway Alco RS3 858 at Duluth, Minnesota April 1964
Long, very cold day on the railroad today, so posting this one about 2AM CST. It sure is nice to be home again.
Long story short, I got this one from Bob Anderson a long time ago. Not sure if Bob noticed it way back in 1964, but I sure did when I was restoring this image tonight to make the most of it here on Flickr in 2017.
Of course the obvious stuff is that this is an assigned Alco RS3 at Duluth. But there's something a bit odd about the lettering on the paint job on NP 858. Would anyone care to take a guess as to what it might be?
