Incan Superior Railroad Car Ferry Dock at Superior, Wisconsin in October 1987

Otto Dobnick provided me with this view to share. It shows the Incan Superior a few years after my previous shot. This one was taken in 1987 and times have changed. Now the loads are nearly all hopper cars from the CP, Soo Line, and private owner car companies. The operation began here in 1974 and lasted into 1992. This shot and the previous view illustrate well how the railroad landscape is a constantly changing environment. Not just from the standpoint of locomotives and cars, but also of terminals, buildings, interchange connections, and the entire traffic base. All of it—is always in flux. Only by comparing and contrasting pictures from different periods in time can we really understand how things started, evolved, and eventually—disappeared. Things are always changing on the railroad. Even right now while you're reading this.

Thanks for this well-lit and not-as-foggy-as-mine shot, Otto. You're the best!
