NP Man Richard Strand at Duluth, Minnesota on July 19, 1964

When Richard Strand climbed aboard his caboose to start his trip he brought his grip and a case of eggs. The grip held his necessities. The eggs would be dropped off at one of the stations along the line. They were a special order for a friend who worked in another town. It wasn’t unusual for working friends to bring small packages to each other using the caboose as the delivery vehicle. All manners of goods were delivered in this fashion; many of them unofficially, of course.
