Milwaukee Road EMD F7 ABAAB Winter 1971

In the early days of dieselization the Milwaukee Road normally used Electro-Motive "Covered Wagons" to move freight between St. Paul and Duluth. In later years it was GP9s, Milwaukee GP20s, GP40s, SDL39s, RSC2s, F45s, SD45s... well, anything that they could find that still worked basically. During the winter of 1971 the F-unit fleet was mostly functional and this five unit set of F7s is pushing through the snow with the usual cars in tow.
