NP Alco RS3 862 at Superior East End May 1968
Northern Pacific was the first railroad to enter Superior, Wisconsin at the area known as East End. NP 862 is an Alco RS3 assigned to work East End as the yard switcher at that terminal. The NP usually had an RS-1 assigned here but when that locomotive went back to Duluth for servicing they used an RS3 or RS11 in the interim. Special thanks to Skip Nelson for providing us with this shot to share with you today.
