Jeff Engelhardt says: Amazing lenses are useless without a good artist. John showed the power of a fast prime (85mm f/1.4) lens by placing a beautiful subject between strong lines and created a beautifully deep image . . when most of us just have blurry backgrounds.

Jeff Engelhardt says: I could fill a gallery with Anthony's stuff. Anthony's work represents to me meticulous attention to detail and absolute technical precision. I mean seriously, look at this. He's also a great mentor. I owe about 75% of all I know about lighting to Anthony.

Jeff Engelhardt says: Jerry is one of the best black and white artists that I know. And like me, he's blessed with a beautiful daughter (hee hee). Jeff Engelhardt says: Stephen Moore - most of you know him for his landscapes. Combining a strobist portrait with a long exposure though - one of the coolest images I've seen.

Jeff Engelhardt says: Sometimes the best portraits come from being far away from people. Often the details of an expression aren't as important as the environment. Or in this case - what the person in the image sees that you can't.

Jeff Engelhardt says: Sometimes it's simply about *style*. I'm not a fashion person, but I know it when I see it. Barbara also has pretty darn good expression - and something unusual like the diptych is a great way to change it all up.

Jeff Engelhardt says: Another thing about Anthony - technical person that he is - part of his greatness is he knows where to break rules. A steadfast rule has been "never shoot portraits with a wide angle lens" - Anthony figured out how to greatly improve portraits by breaking that very rule.
