Visiting the Scary Salton Sea

(Apologies for a few of the rough rhymes, this was the best I could do during a slow staff meeting with notebook in hand. Sing to the tune of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland"):

 

Smell the air - ain't it icky?

See the fish - They aren't living

A mis-rable sight

A horrible fright

Visiting the Scary Salton Sea

 

Water from agriculture

Runoff brings fertilizer

Algae then bloomed

Tilapia doomed

Swimming in the poison Salton Sea

 

Monsoon pours, water rises

Lakeside homes, they expire

Very sad sight

Destruction & blight

Flooded houses by the Salton Sea

 

Bombay Beach, folks are toothless

Summer heat, it is ruthless

Dead fish on the shore

Make it smell more

Walking on the coast of Salton Sea

 

......In the summer we can swim in Salton

......And pretend the water isn't brown

......We'll have lots of fun here at the Salton

......'til the lack of O2 makes us drown

 

Later on, we'll conspire

To learn how, the birds expired

Infection, it spread

Pelicans dead

Botulism from the Salton Sea
